The Maycrest Storefront

In June 2024, the El Sereno Community Land Trust closed escrow on its first commercial site: the 1,250 square-feet market storefront of the Maycrest Building to help provide commercial space to local community-based businesses.

The Maycrest Building was built in 1902! In its over 100 year-old lifetime, it has been constructed over many times from sweatshop factories to small theater and small mom-and-pop businesses.

The Maycrest Storefront is one of two buildings that make up the larger Maycrest Building. The other building measures a total of 4,334 square feet and is subdivided into 6 storefronts, one of which has been the home of the Eastside Cafe for 20 years.
